Biblical duties of husband, wife, parents, children, masters and servants. .

This teaching will help you to know all your biblical duties as a husband, wife, parents, children, masters and servants. In family church and society at large. The Bible contains basic duties God who created the world assigned to every body here on earth, right from the beginning. That’s, it contains duties of God to towards mankind. Duties of mankind to God and to each other both married and unmarried, young and old, rich and poor.

Therefore read on to enable you know your own duty according to your position or the area you found yourself here on earth, as a Christian and believer of Jesus Christ of Nazareth the only Son of God.

EVERY BODY IS A SERVANT EVEN GOD YOU SERVE PHYSICAL BUT HE SERVES YOU SPIRITUAL

DUTIES OF MANKIND

God created everybody on earth for a purpose, for one duty or the other. Moses said in the book of Gen 1:28 In the beginning God created Adam and Eve and blessed them, God said unto them be fruitful, multiply, replenish the earth, subdue it and have dominion over… every living thing that moveth upon the earth.

These are the first duties God assigned to every body on earth. And when one fails to do his or her duties, he or she is bound to fail himself or herself and the entire generation automatically.

ADAM FAILED TO DO HIS DUTY

Adam and Eve was a failure in their own time because they failed to do their own duties, failed also to think about it. But they were busy thinking for none issues, about the forbidden fruit. How they were eating many fruits in the garden nothing happened to them negatively. And they started wondering how God instructed them not to eat the fruit in the middle of the garden. And if they eat of it they will die. How can that be? They asked themselves. As these things dominated or occupied their hearts everyday. Which attracted Satan, he came in form of serpent or entered into snake and said unto the woman.

YEA, YES HATH GOD SAID, YE, YOU SHALL NOT EAT EVERY TREE OF THE GARDEN? Gen. 3:1.

You see Satan replied what they were bearing in minds.

Even Eve who came for a special duty, forgot it. She came for banishment of loneliness of Adam as a help meet . Not to intrude herself to the law God gave Adam to keep and to teach her to obey to keep also.

Although it is not clearly stated in the Bible this way, but it was written as the Holy Spirit ministered unto me as I was writing on this subject.

That was where Adam and Eve his wife failed themselves, and their generation including their God. They left their precious duties and began thinking for something else, negative which attracted the spirit of negativity been Satan.

To do what is right is to do your duty

JESUS FOCUSED ON HIS DUTIES Matthew 4:1-11

Jesus didn’t fail because as he was thinking how to become a businessman (although the Bible didn’t stated it clear the type of hungry Jesus was hungered of) breadseller through the power in him. As he was busy thinking the words of His Father in heaven. That’s why when Satan came to him and said, if you are Son of God. Command these stones to turn to bread. Jesus replied to him scripturally in Deut. 8:3 Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth from the mouth of God.

Had it been that Jesus followed Satan’s instruction or suggestion and commanded stones into bread. He would have from there starts producing bread and became businessman or breadseller.

Temptation comes through what you dominated or occupied your heart daily

When Jesus saw his future and saw how the Pharisees, Chief Priests and Scribes are going to kill him, how they are going maltreat him and so on. He thought as much to commit suicide and die instead of seeing such death ( Mt 16).

As he was cogitating the issues in his mind Satan came to him and said scripturally ( Ps 91) as you are thinking to die, you will not die because God had given His angels charge over you to hold you even your toe will not strike on a stone. Therefore fall down from this mountain.

Jesus replied to satan scripturally Deut. 6:16 You shall not put your God into test or temptation.

Had it been, Jesus listened to Satan he would have committed suicide through falling down from the mountain and die forever but he refused.

Whatever dominated your heart makes you and breaks you

And when Jesus was thinking to convert the power of God in him to earthly leadership and own the world. Satan equally came to him and showed him all the beauties of this world and said unto him. See all these things belongs to me and I have power to give them to whosoever I wish. Therefore Jesus bow down and worship me and have them.

This bow down and worship me provoked Jesus. And he said angrily to him, Get thee hence Satan. And quoted the book of law given to Moses Deut. 6:13 It’s written Only God who made heaven and earth we must worship and serve. This was written by the inspiration of the Holy Spirit.

Friends, Jesus didn’t fail because he knew His duties here on earth. Duty to obey the words of His Father who is in heaven and do His wish.

JESUS CAME FOR HIS FATHER’S BUSINESS

And he said to them why did you seek me? Did you not know that I must be about my Father’s business. Luke 2:49.

King Solomon in his teaching further said, Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter, fear God and keep His commandments for this is the whole duty of Man, Eccl.12:13.

THE REASONS GOD CREATED MAN

1, TAKE DOMINION OVER THE EARTH

And God said, let us make man in our image after our likeness. And let them have dominion over the fish of the Sea, over the fowls of the air, over the cattle, over the all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creeps upon the earth, Gen. 1:26.

2, PROCREATION

And God blessed them and said unto them, be fruitful, multiply, replenish the earth and subdue it, Gen. 1:28. And after the destruction of the first earth. And God gave the same order to Noah and his family, Gen. 9:1-3.

BIBLICAL MARRIAGE

Marriage is an institution established or ordained by God. That’s why a man leaves his father and mother and unite or cleave with his wife and they become one, Gen. 2:24.

THE CALL OF MARRIAGE

And the Lord said, it’s not good that man should be alone, I will make him an help meet for him, Gen. 2:18.

GOD CREATED EVE FOR MARRIAGE

Then the Lord God made the man fall into a deep sleep and while he was sleeping, he took out one of the man’s ribs and closed up the flesh. He formed a woman out of the rib and brought her to him, Gen. 2:21-22.

ADAM CALLED HIS WIFE

Then the man said, at last here is one of my own kind. Bone of my bone and flesh of my flesh. She shall be called woman because she was taken out of man, Gen. 2:23.

JESUS TEACHINGS ON MARRIAGE

Jesus Christ in his teaching further said, Haven’t you read the scripture that in the beginning the Creator made People male and female? And God said, for this reason a man will leave his Father and Mother and unite with his wife and the two will become one. So they are no longer two but one, no human being must separate or put asunder, Mt.19:5-6.

JESUS ATTENDED WEDDING

Two days later there was a wedding in the town of Cana in Galilee. Jesus’ mother was there. Jesus and his disciples had also been invited to the wedding, Jn. 2:1-2.

APOSTLE PAUL TEACHINGS ON MARRIAGE

In his teaching, he said marriage is to be honored by all and husband’s and wives must be faithful to each other. God will judge those who are immoral and those who commit adultery, Heb . 13:4.

DUTIES OF HUSBAND TO HIS WIFE

Before I proceed further, King Solomon in his teaching in the Holy Writ. He said, whosoever finds a wife finds a good thing and obtains favor in the sight of God, Prov. 18:22.

LOVE YOUR WIFE

Husband love your wives just as Christ loved the church and gave his life for it, Eph. 5:25.

BE SENSITIVE TO YOUR WIFE’S WEAKNESSES

In the same way your husbands must live with your wives with proper understanding that they are weaker than you. Treat them with respect, because they are also will receive together with you, God’s gift of life. Do this so that nothing will interfere with your prayers, 1 Pet. 3:7.

PROVIDE FOR YOUR WIFE AND FAMILY

But if anyone does not take care of his relatives, especially the members of his own family, he has denied the faith and is worse than an unbeliever, (infidel), 1Tim. 5:8.

GIVE YOUR WIFE HER CONJUGAL RIGHTS

Let the husband render to the wife due benevolence, likewise also the wife to the husband, 1 Cor. 7:3.

NOURISH AND CHERISH YOUR WIFE

Men ought to love their wives just as they love their own bodies. A man who loves his wife loves himself. People never hate their own bodies. Instead, they feed them and take care of them, just as Christ does the church, Eph . 5:28-29.

DO NOT BITTER AGAINST YOUR WIVES

Husbands, love your wives and be not bitter against them, Col. 3:19.

YOU ARE THE HEAD OF YOUR WIFE

But I want you to understand that Christ is supreme over every man. The husband is supreme over his wife, and God is supreme over Christ, 1 Cor. 11:3.

PRAISE YOUR WIFE

Her children show their appreciation, and her husband praises her, Prov. 31:28.

REJOICE WITH YOUR WIFE

Let thy fountain be blessed and rejoice with the wife of thy youth, Prov. 5:18.

LET HER BREASTS SATISFY YOU

Let her be as the living hind and pleasant roe, let her breasts satisfy thee at all times, and be thou ravished always with her love, Prov. 5:19.

LIVE JOYFULLY WITH YOUR WIFE

Live joyfully with the wife whom thou lovest all the days of the life of thy vanity. For that is thy portion in this life, and in thy labour which thou takest under the sun, Eccl. 9:9.

SPEAK TENDERLY TO YOUR WIFE

Therefore, behold I will allure her and bring her into the wilderness and speak comfortably to her, Hosea 2:14.

MAKE YOUR WIFE HAPPY

According to Moses, when a man is newly married, he is not to be drafted into military service or any other public duty, he is to be excused from duty for one year, so that he can stay at home and make his wife happy, Deut. 24:5.

DUTIES OF WIFE TO HER HUSBAND

SUBMIT TO YOUR HUSBAND

Wives, be subjects, be submissive and adapt yourselves to your own husband as to the Lord. For the husband is head of the wife aa Christ is the head of the church. Himself the saviour of the church. As the church is subject to Christ, so let wives also be subject in everything to their husbands. Eph. 5:22-23.

Apostle Paul further added, wives, be subject to your husbands,” submissive and adapt yourselves to them” as it is right and fitting and proper duty in the Lord, Eph . 5:24.

HONOUR YOUR HUSBAND

So when the King’s decree is made and proclaimed throughout all his kingdom extensive as it’s, all wives will give honour to their husbands high and low, Esther 1:20.

SPEAK GOOD OF YOUR HUSBAND

King Solomon added, Her husband is known ” popular” in the city’s gates when he sits among the elders of the land, Prov. 31:23.

Apostle Paul in his teaching contributed… But woman is the expression of man’s glory, majesty, pre-eminence, 1 Cor. 11:7.

OBEY YOUR HUSBAND

Even as Sara obey Abraham, calling him Lord, whose daughters you are ? As long as you do well and are afraid with any amazement, 1 Pet. 3:6.

LOVE YOUR HUSBAND

So that they will wisely train the young women to be sane and sober of mind, temperate and disciplined, and love their husbands and their children, Titus 2:4.

BE FULL OF GOOD DEED

Apostle Peter said, in the same way wives must submit to your husbands, so that if any of them do not believe God’s word, your conduct will win them over to believe. It will not be necessary for to say a word because they will see how pure and reverent your conduct is. You should not use outward aids to make yourselves beautiful.

Such as the way you do your hair or jewelry you put on, or the dresses you wear. Instead your beauty should consist of your true inner self, the ageless beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is of the greatest value in God’s sight. For the devouted women of the past who placed their hope in God used to make themselves beautiful by submitting to their husbands. Sarah was like that, she obeyed Abraham and called him her master, lord. You are now her daughters if you do good and are not afraid of anything, 1 Peter 3:1-6.

Apostle Paul further contributed in the family peace that To be self controlled, chaste, home makers good natured “kind-hearted” adapting and subordinating themselves to their husbands, that the word of God may not be exposed to reproach, blasphemed or discredited, Titus 2:5.

Give Special Consideration

She rises while it is yet night and get food for husband and assigns her maids their tasks or duties , Proverbs 31:15. However King Solomon continued and said, She looks well to how things go in her household and the bread idleness ,gossip discontent and self pity , she will not eat, Proverbs 31:27.

Dress Modestly

I also want the women to dress modest and sensible about their clothes and to dress properly , not with fancy hair styles or with gold or ornaments or pearls or expensive dress but with deeds as it is proper for women who claim to be religious. And women should learn in silence and in all humility, 1 Timothy 2:9-11.

Please Your Husband

And so he is pulled in two directions . and unmarried or virgin concerns herself with Lord’s work because she wants to be dedicated both in the body and spirit , but a married woman concerns herself with worldly things or matters because of wants to please her husband ,1 Corinthians 7:34.

Be A Helper To Her Husband

Then the Lord said , it is not good for the man to live alone . I will make a suitable companion to help him , Genesis 2:18.

Show Hospitality

And she must have a reputation for good deeds, as one who has brought up children who has practiced hospitality to strangers of the brotherhood , washed the feet of the saints , helped to relieve the distressed and devoted herself diligently to doing in every way, 1 Timothy 5:10.

Parental Duties To Their Children

King David in his teachings he said, Lo, children are an heritage pf the Lord and the fruit of the womb is his reward . He added that As arrows are in the hand of a mighty man , so are the children of the youth. Happy is the man that has his quiver full of them , they shall speak with the enemies in the gate, Psalms 127:3-5.

Teach Your Children

Never forget these commands that I am giving you today . Teach them to your children . Repeat them when you are at home and when you are away, when you are resting and you are working , Deuteronomy 6:6-7.

Tell Your Children What You Seen

Be on your guard , make certain that you do not forget as long as you live what you have seen with your eyes . Tell your children and your grand children , Deuteronomy 4:9.

Train Your Children The Manner

Train up a child in the way he should go and when he is old he will not depart from it, Proverbs 22:6.

Provide For Your Family

This is now third time that I am ready to come to visit you and I will not make any demands on you . It is you I want not your money . After all , children should not have to provide for their parents, 2 Corinthians 12:14.

Sanctify Your Children To God

The morning after each feast Job would get up early and offer sacrifices for each of his children in order to purify them . He always did this because he thought that one of them might have sinned by insulting God unintentionally , Job 1:5.

Nurture Your Children

Parents, do not treat your children in such a way as to make them angry. Instead , bring them up with children discipline and instruction , Ephesians 6:4.

Reprove Your children

The rod and reproof give wisdom, but a child left undisciplined brings his mother to shame , Proverbs 29:15. And Apostle John added that Those whom I dearly and tenderly love , I tell their faults and convict and convince and reprove and chasten , I discipline and instruct them. So be enthusiastic and in earnest and burning with zeal and repent , changing your mind and attitude. Revelation 3:19.

Control Your Children

And I announce to him that I will judge and punish his house for ever for the iniquity of which he knew , for his sons were bringing a curse upon themselves and he not restrain them, 1 Samuel 3:13. Apostle Paul advised, He must rule his his own household well, keeping children under control with dignity , commanding their respect in every way and keeping them respectful, 1 Timothy 3:4 . And in verse 12 he continued and said , Let deacons be the husbands of but one wife and let then=m manage their children and their own households well.

Chasten Your Children

I will be his father and he shall be my son , When he commits iniquity I will chasten him with the rod of men and with the stripes of the sons of men , 2 Samuel 7:14. Apostle Paul said , in Hebrews 12:6 For the Lord corrects and disciplines everyone he loves and punishes even scourges every son whom he accepts and welcomes to his heart and cherishes . And King Solomon in his teaching said , He who spares his rod of discipline hates his son but he who loves him disciplines diligently and punishes him early, Proverbs 13:24. In the book of law of Moses said, You shall also consider in your heart that as a man chastened his son , so the Lord your God chastened you, Deuteronomy 8:5.

Discipline Your Children

Foolishness is bound up in the heart of a child but rod of discipline will drive it far from him, Proverbs 22:15. And chapter 29:17 advised you that Correct your son and he will give rest , Yes, he will give delight to your heart.

Love Your Children

So that they will wisely train the young women to be sane and sober of mind , temperate, disciplined and to love their husbands and their children, Titus 2:4.

Show Your Children Godly Example

I remember the sincere faith you have , the kind of faith that your grand mother Lois and your mother Eunice also had. I am sure that you have it also , 2 Timothy 1:5. And 2 Chronicles 26:4 summarized, He did right in the Lord’s sight , to the extent of all that his father Amaziah had done.

Deliver Your Children’s Soul

Do not withhold correction from a child for if you beat him with a rod , he will not die. You shall beat him with a rod and shall deliver his soul from hell, Proverbs 23: 13-14.

Forgive Your Children

So he got up and started back to his father , he was still a long way from home when his father saw him , his heart was filled with pity and he ran , threw his arms round his his son and kissed him . Father , the son said , I have sinned against God and you. I am no longer fit to be called your son .But the father called his servants , hurry, He said , bring the best rope and put it on him. put a ring on his finger and shoes on his feet. then go and get the prize calf and kill it and let us celebrate with a feast. For this son of mine was dead , but now alive , he was lost but now he has been found and so the feasting began, Luke 15:20-24.

Worship God With Your Children

Everyone of the commandments of Moses was read by Joshua to the whole gathering which included women and children , as well as the foreigners living among them , Joshua 8:35.

Duties Of Children To Their Parents

King David said in his book, Ps 128:3 that Your wife shall be like a fruitful vine in the inner most parts of your house, your children shall be like Olive plants round about your table. While his son King Solomon added that Children are the crown of old men and the glory of children is their fathers.

Honor Your Parents

Honor your father and mother so that your days may be long in the land which the Lord your God gives you, Exodus 20:12.

Obey Your Parents

Children obey your parents in all in all things for this is well pleasing to the Lord, Colossians 3:20.

Make Your Parents Happy

A righteous man’s father has good reason to be happy. You can take pride in a wise son ( children) . Make your father and mother proud of you, give your that happiness, Proverbs 23:24-25.

Do Not Despise Your Parents

Those who make fun of their father or despise their mother in her old age ought to be eaten by vultures or have their eyes picked out by wild ravens, Proverbs 20:20.

Pay Attention To Your Parents

My son keep your father’s commandment and forsake not the law of your mother. Bind them continually upon your heart and tie them round about your neck. When you go out it shall lead you, when you say, it shall keep you and when you awake, it shall talk with you. For the commandment is a lamp and the law is light and reproofs of instruction are the way of life, Proverbs 6:20-23.

Take Care Of Your Parents

But if a widow has children or grand children, they should learn first to carry out their religious duties towards their own family and in this way repay their parents and their grand parents because that is what pleases God, 1 Timothy 5:4.

Children Are Crown Of Their Parents

Children’s children are the crown of old men and the glory of children are their fathers, Proverbs 17:6.

Duties Of Masters To Their Servants

Deal With Your Servants Justly

, Masters give to your servants that which is just and equal, knowing that you also have a master in heaven Colossians 4:1.

Act In The Same Principle

, Knowing that whatever good thing any man does the same shall he receive of the Lord, whether he be bond or free. And you masters do the same things to them forbearing threatening, knowing that your master also in heaven, neither is there respect of persons with him, Ephesians 6:8-9.

Do Not Rule Them Hashly

, You shall not rule over your servants with rigor, but shall fear your God that made you that, Leviticus 25:43.

Free Your Servants When Due

And if your servant be not redeemed in these years, then he shall go out in the year of jubilee, both he and everything which belongs to him, Leviticus 25:54.

Duties Of Servants To Their Masters

Obey You Masters

Servants, be obedient to them that are your masters according to the flesh with fear and trembling in singleness of your heart as to Christ.

Please Your Masters

. Not with eyeservice, as menpleasers, but as the servants of Christ, doing the will of God from the heart, Ephesians 6:5-6.

Serve Your Masters As Lord

With good will doing service as to the Lord and not to men.

Duties Of Christians In The Church

Forsake Not The Assembly Of Brethren

Do not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together as the manner of some is, but exhorting one another and so much the more as you see the day approaching.

Show Respect

Honor all men, love the brotherhood, fear God and honor the king, 1 Peter 2:17.

Obey Church Rulers

For I testify again to every man that is circumcised that he is a debtor to do the whole law.

Love One Another

Beloved if God so loved us we ought also to love one another.

Encourage One Another

Wherefore comfort yourselves together and edify one another even as also you do.

Pay Your Tithe

Will a man rob God? Yet, you have robbed me. But you say, where did we robbed you? In tithes and offerings.

Give Cheerfully

Give and it shall be given to you, good measure, pressed down, shaking together, running over shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that you measure shall be measured to you again.

Bless Them Persecute You

Bless them which persecute , bless and do not curse.

Pray For Your Brethren

Now I beseech you brethren for the Lord Jesus Christ’s sake and for the love of the Spirit that you strive together with me in your prayers to God for me, Romans 15:30.

Takr Care Of Widows

If any man or woman that believed have widows let them relieve them and let not the church be charged that it may relieve them that are widows indeed

In Everything Give Thanks

In everything give thanks, for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you, 1 Thessalonians 5:18.

Duties Of Christians In The Society

Obey The Leaders

The rulers are not a terror to good works, but to the evil. Will you then not be afraid of the power? Do that which is good and you shall have praise of the same. For he is the minister of God to you for good, but if you do that which is evil, you will be afraid, for he beared the sword in vain, for he is the minister of God, a revenger to execute wrath to him that does evil. Wherefore you needs be subject, not only for wrath but also for conscience sake, Romans 13:3-5.

Pay Your Tax

For this cause pay your tribute also for they are God’s ministers attending continually upon this very thing. Render therefore to all their dues, tribute to whom custom, tribute is dues, custom to whom custom, fear to whom fear, honor to whom honor.

Give To The Poor

He that gives to the poor shall not lack, but he that hides his eyes shall have many curse.

Love Your Neighbor

Owe no man anything but to love one another, for he that loved another had fulfilled the law.

Live In Peace With Everyone

If it be possible as much as lied in you, live peaceably with all men, Romans 12:18.

Defend The Fatherless, Widow And Strangers

He does execute the judgment of the fatherless, the widow and loved the strangers in given food and raiment, Deutronomy 10:18.

Do Justice To Every Body

But say to you love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you and persecute you. That you may be the children of your Father which is in heaven. For he makes his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, send rain on the just and on the unjust. For if you love them which love you what reward have you? Do not even the republicans the same? And if you salute your brethren only, what do you more than others? Do not even the republicans so? Be you therefore perfect even as your Father which is heaven is perfect, Matthew 5:44-48.
